The Kaiser Wilhelm II Shaft in Clausthal –

a protagonist of the Clausthal and Zellerfeld mining areas

In addition to the Ottiliae shaft, from the end of the 19th century the Kaiser Wilhelm II Shaft was one of the main hoisting shafts of the Clausthal and Zellerfeld mining areas. From here, the ore was transported underground in barges to the Ottiliae Shaft. Inform yourself in an exhibition about the technology and history of the Upper Harz Water Management System on the freely accessible premises of the company Harzwasserwerke GmbH. The Kaiser Wilhelm II Shaft is an external location of the Upper Harz Mining Museum.
