The Upper Harz Mining Museum in Clausthal-Zellerfeld –

one of Germany's oldest technology museums

 
The Upper Harz Mining Museum in Clausthal-Zellerfeld, founded in 1892, is one of the oldest technical museums in Germany and displays the development of metal ore mining in the Upper Harz from the Middle Ages to its end in 1930. The comprehensive museum collection includes historic technical models and films, valuable coins as well as the first steel cable in the world. The highlights of your visit to the museum will also include the 200 year old shaft building with an authentically reconstructed mine tunnel that you can visit as well as other original mining installations on the open-air site.

As part of the project TRAFO: HARZ|MUSEUMS|WORLD HERITAGE TRANSFORMS A REGION the exhibition areas at the Upper Harz Mining Museum have been updated. You can get a first impression of the new elements of the exhibition in the videos below:
